Cascadia is a bioregion, a bioregional movement, and a state of mind. Potential boundaries differ, but the region primarily consists of British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon. Including all parts of the bioregion, Cascadia would stretch from coastal southeast Alaska down to the redwood region of Northern California. This blog explores the people, places, and culture of Cascadia. This blog is written by David Lawlor, a former resident of Oregon’s Willamette Valley and a former long-time resident of greater Cascadia. David now resides in the Sacramento region and is employed by a nonprofit ocean science and policy organization. He holds a B.A. in Journalism from San Francisco State University, an M.A. in Social Science from Humboldt State University, and is a Certified Sustainability Practitioner (CSR-P).
